Leadership is no longer just about making decisions, managing a team, or pursuing goals.
In the AI age, leadership is the ability to align direction, technology, culture, human energy, and execution discipline.
Today's leader has to juggle six roles simultaneously:
1. Strategist
It doesn't try to predict the future; it designs today's choices for alternative futures.
2. Digital Integrator
It takes AI and technology out of the realm of mere presentation topics; it connects them to levers of decision quality, efficiency, customer experience, and business model.
3. Operator
It reduces the vision to a daily rhythm, priorities, metrics, and accountability.
4. Culture Builder
It takes culture off the board of values and transforms it into behaviors, rituals, trust, and collective intelligence.
5. Coach & Mentor
It goes beyond simply being the one answering; it enhances people's thinking quality, courage, and learning speed.
6. Role Model
This is a person who lives what they say, and makes the aspect they represent visible through their actions.
At the heart of all this is one concept: North Star.
North Star is not the target.
North Star is the inner compass that ensures a leader stays focused when making decisions.
Because if the leader lacks a compass, the organization succumbs to current events, crises, habits, and noise.
In my opinion, the leader of the future is this:
A person who envisions the future, integrates technology, disciplines execution, builds culture, nurtures people, and represents all of this through their own behavior.
My short sentence is this:
Leadership is now about being the compass, the operating system, and the energy source.
